CoreFirst Bank & Trust

Overview

CoreFirst Bank & Trust recently celebrated their 50th anniversary, and it’s clear the company has come a long way in those 50 years. Growing from a single branch in 1959, CoreFirst now has over 32 branches in three major markets and over $1.3 billion in assets. With that type of history and those kinds of numbers, it’s easy to see why CoreFirst would be so careful about finding a trusted partner to help develop and maintain their business interruption plan (BIP).

The Process

That partner is CapStone Technologies, LLC. CoreFirst Bank & Trust’s original attempt at business continuity planning was handled by an employee that volunteered to take on the extra responsibility. Recognizing the need for an experienced BIP partner that was not limited by time or lack of expertise, CoreFirst sought out a professional company outside their walls who could provide a secure, tested perspective. Leadership in the bank also knew that by using a professional company the employees would realize the importance the bank was placing in developing a plan and thus total employee “buy-in” would be achieved at a faster pace.

CapStone was not interested in simply copying and pasting successful BIP plans from their portfolio. Understanding that every bank has special and unique requirements, CapStone sat down with Executive Management at CoreFirst Bank & Trust to listen to their specific needs. These discussions, along with ongoing feedback from each of the business owners at CoreFirst, helped CapStone tailor the right plan to meet their needs.

After delivery of the plan, CapStone met individually with each business owner to walk them through their plan and provide hands-on training. In addition, CapStone took the plans through a comprehensive testing phase to ensure their effectiveness.

The Results

In the end, the client expressed great satisfaction with their CapStone experience. CoreFirst has also employed CapStone for ongoing testing and maintenance of the BIP.

“CapStone did a wonderful job, absolutely. Their plan is complete and easy for each business owner to use and update. We appreciate the professionalism and attention to detail that was displayed while working together with us as part of our team, rather than a simple vendor,” said Keith McKibben, Senior Vice President of Branch Operations. “I have recommended, and will continue to recommend, CapStone to others.”
